The system registry is the key element of the Windows operating system. That's because all the file and program references are stored there, together with configuration information. So if a key gets corrupted or deleted, certain applications or Windows services may stop working. The same goes for having a lot of useless keys and values stored in the registry. Most applications, when they are removed, don't actually remove all the registry keys that belong to them, leaving them behind and producing a lot of clutter. This is why the registry should be cleaned up on a regular basis, for avoiding bigger problems which may occur later on.

Unfortunately, Windows does not include any tool for fixing the registry, so the only thing left is to use a 3rd party application for this. One of these programs is RemoteRegistryCleaner. It's a simple Windows program which differences from other similar programs by offering the user the possibility to scan the registry of remote computers. This is very useful in case you are the administrator of a network and you want to make sure that all the computers are in order.

After installing and running the application, the user must first enter the IP address of the computer that should be scanned for registry problems. In case one wants to scan his own computer, he can enter LOCALHOST as the computer hostname or IP address. Multiple computers can be scanned at the same time, by simply adding the IP and account information for each of them. After completing the scanning process, all the registry errors will be clearly listed, together with their type and location of broken keys. At this point, the user can choose to fix all of them or only specific errors.

Before cleaning up the registry, RemoteRegistryCleaner automatically creates a system restore point, so in case something goes wrong and an important key is deleted, one can revert to the original state. The program can be updated directly from its interface using the graphical toolbar. What's more, a log can be displayed at any time, clearly stating the program's functionality.

Pros

It can scan the registry of the local or network computer by simply adding its IP and account information. Besides that, all the errors can be fixed or only some of them. What's more, the application can be updated directly from its interface.

Cons

Some inexperienced users may have trouble when entering the IP and username and password. RemoteRegistryCleaner allows you to scan and fix the registry of any local or network computer, for ensuring maximum performance and stability.
